Four on July 4th; HCFR Incidents Quickly Brought Under Control

Structure fire, overturned boat, fireworks‑related calls, and a one‑acre grass fire all resolved without major injuries.

Horry County Fire Rescue handled four unrelated emergency calls on July 4, spanning morning through late evening and covering multiple communities from Forestbrook to Carolina Forest and the North Myrtle Beach coastline. Each incident was brought under control, with no serious injuries or displacement reported.

Structure Fire — Georgetown Drive (Forestbrook)

A morning response at 8:58 a.m. brought HCFR crews to Georgetown Drive for a reported structure fire. Hot coals discarded in pine straw ignited an outside fire, causing exterior damage to a nearby residence. No injuries occurred, and no one was displaced. The Georgetown Drive incident was fully contained.

Watercraft Incident — Bird Island (North Myrtle Beach)

At 3:01 p.m., HCFR responded to Bird Island for a watercraft emergency. A boat overturned in the water, resulting in minor injuries. Two individuals signed medical‑transport waivers after evaluation. The Bird Island response concluded with the scene under control.

Fireworks‑Related Outside Fires — Countywide

Throughout the evening, HCFR units across the county handled multiple outside fires linked to fireworks. With drought conditions and extremely dry vegetation, fireworks continue to pose a heightened wildfire risk. Officials remind residents that spent fireworks must be fully extinguished in sturdy metal buckets of water, not in grass, bushes, or trees.

Smoke Notice / Grass Fire — Silvercrest Drive (Carolina Forest)

At 10:32 p.m., HCFR responded to Silvercrest Drive for a reported grass fire threatening nearby structures. The fire, estimated at about one acre, was contained, and all structures were protected. Residents may continue to see smoke and fire‑rescue presence in the area for some time.
