TABOR CITY — A larceny investigation stretched across two states Monday after Columbus County Sheriff’s Office detectives attempted to stop a vehicle tied to recent break‑ins — only for the driver to flee, sparking a pursuit that crossed the South Carolina line, according to a press release from Sheriff W.A. Rogers.
Detectives tried to pull over the GMC Denali 2500 on May 11, but the driver refused to stop. The chase moved through Tabor City and into Horry County before the truck wrecked. Both suspects ran, but CCSO investigators caught them after a foot chase.
A firearm was discarded during the pursuit, investigators said. A search of the truck uncovered trafficking‑level amounts of fentanyl along with cocaine. The Denali was confirmed stolen out of Robeson County.
