A Look at Village Point United Methodist Church’s History
Village Point United Methodist Church has served the Shallotte area for well over a century, tracing its roots to the era when Methodist circuit riders traveled rural Brunswick County to preach and organize small worship gatherings. Those early meetings eventually grew into a permanent congregation that became a spiritual and social anchor for families living along the Village Point peninsula.
Over generations, the church has remained known for its hospitality, community meals, mission work, and multigenerational fellowship. As Shallotte evolved from a quiet coastal community into a regional hub, Village Point UMC continued its role as a gathering place for worship, outreach, and neighborhood connection.
Events like the upcoming fried chicken dinner reflect that longstanding tradition, offering residents and visitors a chance to share a meal while supporting the church’s ministries.
