NC adds two cases since late February; SC outbreak remains the region’s largest
March 12, 2026 — North Carolina has reported a small increase in measles activity, with 24 confirmed cases statewide, up from 22 cases reported on Feb. 24. The latest update from NCDHHS shows no new counties added and no cases in Brunswick or Columbus counties.
South Carolina continues to drive regional totals. State health officials now report 993 confirmed cases, including two new cases since Friday. Forty‑two people remain in quarantine, with two in isolation as the Upstate‑centered outbreak approaches the 1,000‑case mark.
Health officials in both states continue urging vaccination, especially for children and adults who may be behind on routine immunizations. The outbreak has prompted increased surveillance and coordination with neighboring states.
