Oak Island, NC — Lil & John’s Sweetreat Ice Cream Parlor, located at 5700 E Oak Island Drive, has been temporarily evacuated due to potential contamination from improperly mixed cleaning chemicals.
There is currently no danger to the surrounding area, and there are no street closures at this time. To ensure emergency operations proceed efficiently, pedestrians are asked to avoid walking through the immediate vicinity of the property. Drivers are requested to keep traffic moving and refrain from slowing down to view the response, as doing so impedes emergency efforts.
Specialized crews are actively on-site working to resolve the situation, including a Hazmat team from the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point that is assisting with the cleanup.
