Whiteville, NC — When Bargain Snatchers opened its doors in 2024, the owners say they were simply hoping Whiteville would give them a chance. And this town did what it always does – it showed up. Folks swung by Hill Plaza after grabbing lunch, parents stopped in between errands, and regulars made it part of their weekly routine. Word spread fast, the way it does here, and the locally owned shop quickly became a familiar stop for many.

Located at 38 Hill Plaza in Whiteville, next to Roses, the store has served as an easy, convenient stop for shoppers across the area. Bargain Snatchers is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., a schedule the owners kept for making it easier for working families to shop local.

Inside Bargain Snatchers, shoppers will find a mix of discounted household goods, everyday essentials, and rotating closeout items that change week to week. Shelves are stocked with cleaning supplies, pantry staples, snacks, paper products, small home items, seasonal finds, and budget‑friendly odds and ends that regulars say make each visit a bit of a treasure hunt. The owners say they’ve focused on keeping prices low and offering practical items families in the Whiteville area use every day.

But as of May 2026, the owners say the store is struggling to stay open. Customer traffic has slowed, bills haven’t, and a business that once felt full of momentum is now fighting to make it month to month. The announcement has sparked concern among locals who don’t want to see another homegrown shop disappear from Whiteville’s retail landscape.

The owners say they unlocked the doors to Bargain Snatchers with big dreams, crossed fingers, and the hope that the community wouldn’t immediately shrug off a new store. Instead, residents shopped local, told their friends, and came back again and again. That early support, they say, is what carried the business through its first year.

Now, they’re asking the community for help once more. The family says they need a noticeable increase in customer turnout to keep the doors open. Without it, the store may not survive.

Many residents have already voiced support online, urging neighbors to stop by and reminding others how important locally owned shops are to the Whiteville area.

One shopper, Crystal, shared her experience on social media, saying, “Folks, let Bargain Snatchers be your next stop for amazing deals and prices. We shop this store about twice a month, and we love it! Please check them out.”

Comments like hers reflect the growing concern from locals who don’t want to see another small business disappear from Whiteville.

For now, the owners of Bargain Snatchers say they’re holding onto hope – the same hope they had on opening day that Whiteville will rally around them again.
