Conway Closes Town Green Splash Pad as Severe Drought Deepens

City urges conservation; open burning ban remains in effect

Conway, SC — The Town Green Splash Pad is temporarily closed as severe drought conditions continue across the region, according to city officials.

The South Carolina Climate Office currently classifies the Conway area in severe drought following an extended stretch of below‑normal rainfall. State climatologists expect dry conditions to persist, prompting local agencies to call for immediate conservation efforts.

The City of Conway Fire Department continues to enforce a ban on open burning due to the elevated fire risk.

Residents are strongly encouraged to take simple steps to reduce water use during this period:

• Limit outdoor watering and irrigation
• Water only in early morning or late evening to reduce evaporation
• Fix leaks and avoid unnecessary water use
• Run full loads in dishwashers and washing machines
• Turn off the tap while brushing teeth

City officials say small changes can make a meaningful difference in protecting local water resources as drought conditions continue.
