Betty Lou N. Smith, 81, of Calabash died April 21, 2026. Born in Columbus County, NC, on February 6, 1945, she was a daughter of the late William Taft Norris and Dora Mae Reaves Norris. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roddie Lane Smith, two brothers, William Buster Norris and Maurice Clark Norris, and a sister, Lillie Mae King.
She was a retired educator having taught at Shallotte Middle School for a several years.
Surviving is her son, Jonathan Smith (Sharon) her daughter, Jennifer Brougher (Jason), and grandchildren, Connor and Caden Smith and Amelia and Alexander “Alex” Brougher.
Funeral services will be conducted April 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte Chapel. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
