Funds were raised through April’s Palmetto Police Motorcycle Skills Challenge
The Horry County Police Department on July 2 presented a check for $27,068.58 to Camp Happy Days, representing proceeds from this year’s Palmetto Police Motorcycle Skills Challenge held back in April.
HCPD is a proud annual participant in the four‑day motorcycle skills competition, where law enforcement officers from across the region test precision, control, and riding ability. Civilians are also eligible to take part. While the competition is demanding, the department emphasized that its purpose is rooted in service.
All funds raised support Camp Happy Days, a nonprofit that provides summer camp experiences for children diagnosed with cancer and their families. The organization offers opportunities for kids to swim, fish, play games, make friends, and enjoy moments of normalcy during extremely difficult medical journeys.
The donation reflects the efforts of riders, supporters, and everyone who contributed to this year’s challenge. Representatives from the North Myrtle Beach Police Department, Myrtle Beach Police Department, and South Carolina Highway Patrol joined HCPD during the July 2 presentation. From skill, to service, to smiles at camp, this is what community looks like.
