Deputy assigned to Marshals Task Force follows trail across multiple states
Horry County, SC — The Horry County Sheriff’s Office says a wanted man who eluded capture in May has now been arrested in Delaware after a multi‑state search led by a deputy assigned to the U.S. Marshals Carolina’s Regional Fugitive Task Force.
According to HCSO, Terrell Jefferies was wanted in Horry County on charges of Assault & Battery 1st Degree and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
On May 1, 2026, the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team surrounded a building on Highway 17 Bypass after receiving a tip that Jefferies was inside. When he was not located, the deputy assigned to the Marshals Task Force began tracking his movements, ultimately following the trail out of state.
Authorities say Jefferies was located and arrested in Delaware on July 1, 2026 by U.S. Marshals agents. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Horry County.
