Town of Oak Island, NC – Who’s ready for summer? The Town of Oak Island certainly is – and this year’s Bands by the Beach lineup is shaping up to be one of the strongest in recent memory. The Oak Island Parks & Recreation Department is gearing up for another season of free Friday‑night concerts at Middleton Park, inviting families, locals, and visitors to grab a chair, kick off their shoes, and hit the dance floor.

The season opens with Band of Oz, a longtime Carolina beach‑music favorite known for horn‑rich arrangements and a dance‑floor‑ready set that always draws a crowd. They’re followed by The Salty Dawgs, who bring a coastal blend of rock, shag standards, and laid‑back island energy shaped by years of playing waterfront venues. Christine Martinez Band adds a soulful mix of country, pop, and powerhouse vocals, giving early June a strong, modern sound.
Mid‑June brings the smooth harmonies of The Catalinas, a group with deep roots in Carolina beach music, before Julio & The Saltines take the stage with their upbeat, party‑band style and fun coastal covers. Too Much Sylvia rounds out the month with polished showmanship and a wide-ranging songbook that jumps effortlessly from beach classics to pop and rock favorites.
Oak Island’s special Beach Day celebration on July 1 features The Extraordinaires, a brass‑driven, high‑energy band known for turning outdoor shows into full‑on community celebrations. The July lineup continues with The Entertainers, who blend beach, Motown, and dance hits, followed by Chocolate Chip & Company Band, bringing funk-forward energy and a crowd‑pleasing stage presence. Rivermist keeps the momentum going with tight vocals and a polished mix of classic rock and Carolina favorites.
As summer rolls into August, Crystal & Aria introduce a fresh, modern coastal‑pop sound built around strong vocals, while I‑42 Band leans into lively country‑rock shaped by North Carolina roots. 52nd Street Band brings a faithful Billy Joel tribute with piano‑driven showmanship, and Hoods Creek adds a Southern‑rock edge with rich harmonies and a homegrown feel. The season closes with The Conspiracy, a versatile group known for mixing rock, pop, and dance tracks into a high‑energy finale.
