Sheriff’s Office Announces Major Drug Seizure Following Community-Assisted Investigation

Two-Month Narcotics Investigation Leads to Major Cocaine Seizure and Two Arrests

Brunswick County, NC — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Vice & Narcotics Unit has concluded a two‑month investigation resulting in the seizure of more than 100 grams of cocaine and the arrest of two individuals on multiple felony drug charges.

On the evening of January 14, deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Mt. Pisgah Road. The vehicle, driven by Anthony Napolitano, 29, of Carolina Shores, with Delton Bessent, 27, of Conway, South Carolina, as a passenger, fled at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued for a short distance before the vehicle came to a stop on Cumbee Road.

During the pursuit, narcotics were discarded from the vehicle in the 900 block of Mt. Pisgah Road. Agents recovered the drugs along the roadside shortly after the stop.

Both individuals were taken into custody without further incident and charged as follows:

Anthony Napolitano, 29, of Carolina Shores
– Flee to Elude Arrest
– Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Cocaine
– Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Methamphetamine
– Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine (2 counts)
– Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Methamphetamine
– Sale of Cocaine (2 counts)
– Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances
– Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine
– Trafficking Cocaine

Delton Bessent, 27, of Conway, SC
– Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Cocaine
– Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Methamphetamine
– Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine (2 counts)
– Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Methamphetamine
– Sale of Cocaine (2 counts)
– Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances
– Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine
– Trafficking Cocaine
