Detectives uncover meth, psilocybin, marijuana, and 18 gallons of non‑tax‑paid liquor following June 17 stop
WHITEVILLE, NC — The Whiteville Police Department’s Criminal and Narcotics Investigation Division (CNID) arrested a local man following a traffic stop and subsequent search that led to the seizure of narcotics and illegal alcohol.
According to the department, on June 17, 2026, CNID detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Wiley Bramble Memory, 62 of 408 Franklin Street for a traffic violation within the City of Whiteville. During the stop, investigators searched the vehicle and Memory, discovering approximately 2.4 grams of methamphetamine.
Detectives later obtained and executed a search warrant at Memory’s residence based on evidence gathered during the investigation. Officers seized additional quantities of methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, marijuana paraphernalia, drug paraphernalia, and approximately 18 gallons of non-tax-paid spirituous liquor.

Memory was arrested and charged with:
- Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana — felony offense involving distribution-level quantities
- Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Schedule I Controlled Substance — related to psilocybin mushrooms
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia
- Manufacture of Liquor Without a Permit
- Possession/Sale of Non-Tax-Paid Liquor
- Possession/Sale of Alcoholic Beverages Without a Permit
The Whiteville Police Department stated it remains committed to identifying and disrupting illegal narcotics activity and other criminal enterprises that threaten community safety. The investigation is ongoing, and officials noted that additional charges may be forthcoming.
