Roadways Clear After Entrapment Crash in Socastee and Overturned Truck on Highway 31

HCFR, SCHP, and local agencies cleared two unrelated incidents that caused major delays.

Horry County, SC — Two separate crashes that caused significant traffic disruptions in Horry County earlier this week have since been cleared, and all affected lanes are now open.

On June 15, a two‑vehicle collision with entrapment blocked lanes of Socastee Boulevard at Stonebridge Drive. Horry County Fire Rescue crews used extrication equipment to remove an entrapped individual, and two people were transported to the hospital with injuries. South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the crash, with assistance from the Horry County Police Department. HCFR was dispatched at 4:38 p.m. All lanes have since reopened.

A second incident occurred on June 18 along Highway 31 just south of International Drive, where a commercial dump truck overturned into the median, spilling sand across the northbound lanes and requiring extensive cleanup. One person was transported with non‑life‑threatening injuries. South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated, and Horry County Fire Rescue was dispatched at 10:54 a.m. The roadway fully reopened at 2:00 p.m.
