Beach remains accessible with minor detours as crews advance toward Singleton Swash
HORRY COUNTY, SC — Progress continues on the Arcadian Shores Beach Renourishment Project just south of Apache Pier, where crews are working around the clock to restore and strengthen the shoreline.
Despite the scale of the project, officials say residents and visitors should experience only minimal disruptions while enjoying the beach.
The contractor’s equipment is currently staged at the Dolphin Beach Access (#19). The access remains open, but visitors will need to walk alongside the active construction area, either north toward Cottage Beach Access (#20) or south to Turtle Beach Access (#18).
Work is expected to continue moving south over the next several days toward Singleton Swash.
Once this section is complete, the contractor will return to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) federal renourishment project in southern Myrtle Beach (Reach 2). Operations in Garden City and Surfside Beach (Reach 3) are scheduled to follow later this summer.
County officials appreciate the continued patience and cooperation of residents and visitors throughout this shoreline restoration effort.
