Riegelwood / Bolton, N.C. — A local volunteer effort is calling on the community to help restock two Blessing Box locations and support its next outreach project: Valentine’s Day care packages for residents in area nursing homes and memory‑care facilities.
Organizers, who have partnered with Wesley Weyman Methodist Church on previous initiatives including Thanksgiving meals and a Christmas gift program for children, plan to assemble at least 50 gift bags for delivery ahead of the holiday. Each package will include pajama sets in select sizes (XS, L and XL), puzzle or crossword books, hygiene items such as body wash, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, denture‑care products, shaving supplies, and a small treat. Contact organizer, Mariah McDonald for more information.
In addition to the Valentine’s project, organizers say the Blessing Boxes remain in steady use and need regular restocking. Donations can be dropped off at 221 9th Street in Bolton or at the Riegelwood Park and Ballfield location at the intersection of Waccamaw and Green Road.
High‑priority needs include shampoo and conditioner, body wash, canned meats, juices, shelf‑stable milk, deodorant, cereal, instant oatmeal, grits, breakfast bars, feminine products, diapers in sizes 3 to 5, pull‑ups, and microwaveable or instant meals.
