CONWAY, SC — A Conway man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a minor, according to Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson.
Daniel Anthony Orlando, 29, pleaded guilty on June 16, 2026, to second‑degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. The plea came just after a jury had been selected for his trial. Prosecutors George Henry Martin III and Senior Assistant Solicitor Leigh Waller handled the case for the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Orlando entered the plea before Circuit Court Judge David P. Caraker Jr. with no sentencing recommendation from the State and no agreements between the parties. Judge Caraker imposed a 10‑year prison sentence, classifying the crime as a violent and most serious offense. Orlando is not eligible for parole and will be required to register as a sex offender for life upon release.
The assault occurred on June 7, 2024, when Orlando sexually assaulted a 12‑year‑old child. The victim disclosed the assault to a friend and was taken to a hospital. Law enforcement opened an investigation, and Orlando was later charged after DNA evidence connected him to the crime.
“The Horry County Police Department conducted the investigation and arrested Orlando,” Martin said. “We appreciate the Horry County Police Department, specifically Sergeant Brianna Scott, for bringing this defendant to justice.”
