Horry County Police Department Reminds Residents to Secure Vehicles Amid Rise in Break‑Ins

CAROLINA FOREST, SC — The Horry County Police Department is urging residents to stay vigilant after a recent increase in vehicle break‑ins reported in the Carolina Forest area. According to HCPD, incidents have involved both forced entry and unlocked vehicles, making overnight security especially important.

Residents are encouraged to take the following precautions: Lock your vehicle at all times, remove or secure valuables, including wallets, credit cards, cash, and firearms and avoid leaving any personal items visible inside your car.

Anyone who observes suspicious activity or individuals is asked to report it immediately to Horry County Dispatch at 843.248.1520,or dial 9-1-1 in an emergency.

HCPD also encourages anyone with information related to recent auto break‑ins to contact the department as investigators continue working to identify those responsible.
