Gift strengthens hands‑on training for students entering the region’s automotive workforce
WHITEVILLE, NC — A local owner of Southeastern Paint and Body has donated a $60,000 wheel alignment machine to Southeastern Community College’s Automotive Systems Technology program, giving students access to industry‑standard equipment used in modern repair shops.
College officials said the donation will immediately enhance hands‑on training for students preparing for careers in automotive service, diagnostics, and repair. The new machine allows instructors to teach alignment procedures using the same technology found in professional garages, improving both skill development and job readiness.
The contribution also reflects growing support from local businesses for SCC’s workforce programs. Automotive instructors noted that local partnerships like this help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real‑world shop experience, especially as vehicle technology continues to advance.
Southeastern Paint and Body representative said the decision to donate the equipment was driven by a desire to invest in the next generation of technicians who will serve customers and employers across Columbus County and surrounding communities.
The alignment machine is already installed in SCC’s automotive lab, where students will begin using it during upcoming training sessions.
