Cooperative agreement resolves long‑standing criminal activity at Josh Circle
Supply, NC — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has reached a successful resolution with the property owner of a residence on Josh Circle in Supply following a coordinated effort to address years of criminal activity at the location.
Deputies have executed multiple search warrants at the property over time, made felony arrests, and investigated repeated incidents that affected nearby residents and strained law enforcement resources. In response to the ongoing issues, Sheriff Brian Chism requested assistance from the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) Nuisance Abatement Team to explore a potential Chapter 19 Nuisance Abatement action.
Rather than moving forward with litigation, the property owners worked cooperatively with law enforcement to reach an agreement intended to bring lasting change.
Under that agreement:
• The property has been transitioned to a responsible family member.
• The structure on the property will be demolished within the next few days.
• Anyone found trespassing on the property will be arrested and criminally charged.
“For years, this location has served as a hotspot for criminal activity, constantly draining law enforcement resources, negatively impacting the community and fostering criminal behavior,” Sheriff Brian Chism said. “We are thankful for the community and property owners working with law enforcement to help restore peace and safety to the community.”
Sheriff Chism also expressed appreciation to the ALE Nuisance Abatement Team for its partnership and commitment to improving the quality of life for Brunswick County residents.
“The nuisance abatement law provides an effective solution for addressing problem properties that place a significant strain on law enforcement resources and negatively impact the quality of life for surrounding residents,” said Bryan House, Director of ALE. “Successful resolutions like this are only possible through strong community involvement and partnership. I want to recognize the outstanding work of our ALE special agents and Brunswick County in reaching this agreement. Together, we have taken an important step toward a lasting resolution that will benefit the entire community.”
The case highlights what can be accomplished when law enforcement, property owners, county officials, and residents work together. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office states it remains committed to using every available legal tool to reduce crime, strengthen neighborhoods, and keep Brunswick County a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
