SOUTHPORT, N.C. — Brunswick Little Theatre will open its summer season with End Days, a heartfelt comedy by Deborah Zoe Laufer, directed by Victor Gallo, running June 11 – 28, 2026.
The play follows the Stein family as they wrestle with grief, faith, and science in the wake of 9/11. Arthur Stein retreats into silence, while his wife Sylvia embraces evangelical Christianity and predicts the Apocalypse will arrive — on Wednesday. Their daughter Rachel, caught between despair and disbelief, finds an unlikely ally in Nelson, a cheerful classmate who dresses as Elvis and believes in science.
Through imagined encounters with Jesus and Stephen Hawking, Laufer’s script blends humor and heartbreak to explore how people search for meaning when life feels uncertain. The production promises laughter, reflection, and a reminder that human connection can bridge the divide between belief and reason.
Content advisory: Audience discretion is suggested for those sensitive to themes of grief or questioning faith.
Tickets are available online or in person at Ricky Evans Gallery, 211 N. Howe Street, Southport.
