Whiteville NC – Whiteville Police, Fire, Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s Office to host free community event Sept. 11
Several of Columbus County’s law enforcement and emergency response agencies are joining forces with a regional cancer care center to host a free Wellness Health Fair in Whiteville next month — and they’re settling a little friendly score on the cornhole court while they’re at it.
The event is set for Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, from 1–4 p.m. at 701 S. Madison St. in Whiteville, and is open to the public at no charge.
The fair brings together the Whiteville Police Department, Whiteville Fire Department, North Carolina Highway Patrol, Columbus County Sheriff’s Office and the Donayre Cancer Care Center — part of Columbus Regional Healthcare System — to offer health screenings, community resources and educational information in a neighborhood-friendly setting.
Attendees can expect giveaways, Kona Ice, first-responder booths and information about services available throughout the community.
The signature event of the afternoon will be the Battle of the Badges Cornhole Competition, pitting local first-responder agencies against one another for bragging rights. Cornhole registration opens at 1 p.m. and closes at 1:30 p.m., with competition tipping off at 2 p.m.
The health fair is free and no registration is required to attend. Those interested in competing in the cornhole tournament should plan to arrive early to sign up.
