Whiteville Man Held Without Bond on Weapon of Mass Destruction and Domestic Violence Charges

WHITEVILLE, NC — A Whiteville resident remains behind bars without bond following an early Thursday morning arrest by Columbus County Sheriff’s deputies involving serious violence and illegal weaponry.

Deputies executed the arrest of 34-year-old Jerome Ronell Brown Jr. at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 23. According to detention logs, Brown faces a heavy slate of criminal allegations, highlighted by felony charges for possession of a weapon of mass destruction and felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

In addition to the primary felony charges, authorities cited Brown for assault by pointing a gun, a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, injury to real property, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Following his arrest, Brown was transported to the Columbus County Detention Center, where a magistrate ordered him held with no bond allowed due to the nature of the felony and domestic violence charges.

Individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
