Whiteville Man Charged With DWI, Resisting Officer After Early‑Morning Arrest

WHITEVILLE — A Whiteville man was arrested early May 13 on charges of Driving While Impaired, Resisting a Public Officer, and Assault on a Government Official, according to the Columbus County Detention Center.

KENDALL DASHAWN ALLEN, 25, was taken into custody at 7:21 a.m. and released later the same day. Deputies reported that Allen resisted during the arrest, leading to the additional misdemeanor charges. Allen received a $1,500 secured bond on the DWI charge, with the remaining charges included under the primary bond.

Under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 20‑138.1, a first‑offense DWI is a misdemeanor but can carry enhanced penalties when combined with assault on law enforcement.

All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
