Incident occurred on the north end of the beach in New Hanover County

New Hanover, NC — Emergency radio traffic indicated that two people were struck by lightning late Saturday morning on the north end of Wrightsville Beach in New Hanover County.
The call was dispatched shortly before noon.
Emergency units were sent to the scene. No information on the victims’ conditions had been released as of early afternoon.
National Weather Service lightning logs showed cloud‑to‑ground strikes in the Wrightsville Beach area during the same time period.
No additional details, including identities or medical updates, had been released by local agencies.
