Brunswick County Sheriff Chism

Brunswick County Sheriff Brian Chism has been elected to serve as the Third Vice President of the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association.

The announcement followed the Association’s Annual Business Conference, which brought together sheriffs, law enforcement personnel, and their families for a multi-day event focused on training, panel discussions, and professional networking.

This year’s conference featured specialized sessions designed to support law enforcement leadership and administration. Key training topics included: Office of Sheriff finance management, effective strategies and techniques for addressing retail businesses selling vapes and THC products and remarks and insights delivered by special guest speakers, state government officials, and law enforcement leaders.

Alongside Sheriff Chism’s election, several other North Carolina sheriffs assumed leadership positions on the Association’s Executive Committee:

  • President: Cleveland “Clee” Atkinson, Edgecombe County, First Vice President: Sheriff Jeff Crisco, Stanly County, Second Vice President: Sheriff Chip Hughes, Craven County, Secretary (Reelected): Sheriff Joey Lemons, Stokes County and Treasurer (Reelected): Sheriff Van Shaw, Cabarrus County.

Following the conclusion of the conference, Sheriff Chism shared his thoughts on stepping into the statewide leadership role:

“I thank my fellow sheriffs for trusting me to become a member of the Association’s Executive Committee and electing me to this position of leadership. This is an exciting opportunity to be more involved in the operations of the Association and to help support and enhance the Office of Sheriff and law enforcement as a whole in North Carolina!”
