Mr. Walbaum was born on January 5, 1953, in Huntington, New York, to the late August and Eileen Walbaum. He spent more than 30 years raising his family in Long Valley, New Jersey, before retiring to the warm coastal climate of North Carolina, where he enjoyed the sunshine and slower pace of life. Alan found joy in woodworking, traveling, boating, listening to music, and spending time with his family. He especially treasured being “Pop-Pop” to his three grandsons and created many cherished memories on family beach vacations, where he loved building elaborate sandcastles with his daughters. Alan was also blessed with the rare gift of a lifelong friendship, sharing more than 70 years of memories with his best friend, Kevin. His greatest joy was time spent with those he loved, and his family will forever cherish the memories they made together.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Camille Walbaum; two daughters, Michelle Walbaum and Kara Davis; three grandsons, Kaden Davis, Ethan Davis, and Hudson Davis; a sister, Linda Nakamura and her husband, Hachi; and his niece, Jacquelyn Nakamura.
A celebration of Alan’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 22, 2026 in the Peacock – Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel.
