Italian Sloppy Joe

So every now and then I like to try to create something new or reimage something.  This week I decided to turn the classic sloppy joe a little more Italian. The end result was rather tasty and who doesn’t like a good sloppy joe.

Ingredients
2 Pounds Ground Beef
2 Medium Onions
28 oz can Diced Tomato
28 oz can Crushed Tomato
2 large Bell Peppers
2 cloves Minced Garlic
2 tsp Salt or to taste
2 tsp Black pepper to taste
¼ cup Oregano
1 tsp Red Pepper Flake
2 cups Water
1 Cup Pecorino Romano Cheese
Olive Oil
Provolone
Directions
Prep 1: Finely cut your onions and peppers and mince your garlic and put aside.

Step 1: Brown your ground beef, drain and put aside.

Step 1

Step 2: Wipe out your pan and put it back on the heat. On high heat add some olive oil and then your onions. Cook for a couple of minutes until they begin to get translucent.

Step 3:Add your bell peppers and cook for a couple more minutes mixing well.

Step 4: Add your garlic and mix well and cook for another couple of minutes.

Step 5: Add your ground beef and mix well.

Step 6: Add your diced and crushed tomatoes and water and mix well.

Step 6

Step 7: Add your red pepper flakes, black pepper, salt and oregano. Mix well.

Step 8: Once your mixture begins to bubble lower to medium heat and add your pecorino Romano cheese and mix well. Once lowered you will need to cook for an hour and be sure to stir often. It will thicken up as you go.

Step 9: After an hour remove from the heat and let sit for ten mins or so.

Step 10: Toast Buns.

Step 11: Place a slice of provolone cheese on your bottom bun and add meat mixture. Place on top bun and enjoy.
