Arrest stems from SVU investigation into reported abuse.
WHITEVILLE, NC — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Daniel Allen Cox on January 29 following an investigation into allegations of sexual and physical abuse involving minors.
The case began after information was received from Bladen County DSS. Detectives conducted forensic interviews and Child Medical Evaluations (CME), gathering evidence to support criminal charges.
Cox is charged with:
• Two counts Felony Child Abuse
• Two counts Second Degree Forcible Sex Offense
• Two counts Statutory Sex Offense with a Child by an Adult
• Two counts Statutory Sex Offense with a Child Under 15
• Two counts Sexual Activity by a Substitute Parent or Custodian
He was taken to the Columbus County Detention Center and issued no bond. Sheriff Bill Rogers said the SVU remains committed to protecting children and pursuing justice in all abuse cases.
Everyone is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
