WHITEVILLE, NC — Southeastern Community College is inviting high school students and their families to campus on March 31 for an information session highlighting the college’s expanding lineup of summer learning opportunities. The High School Summer Camps Interest Night will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the SCC Auditorium at 4564 Chadbourn Highway.
The event will introduce students to a wide range of programs designed to help them explore careers, build hands‑on skills, and get a head start on their future. SCC officials will outline summer courses, hands‑on camps, and several specialized initiatives, including NC HE²ALS, PILLS Academy, Educational Talent Search (ETS) Camps, and pre‑apprenticeship pathways that connect students with real‑world workforce experience.
According to SCC’s summer programming overview, high school students have access to multiple structured options, including:
High School Summer Options
- High School Summer Camps — hands‑on, career‑focused experiences across multiple fields.
- Summer Courses — opportunities to earn college credit while still in high school.
- Transfer Classes — designed for students planning to pursue university pathways.
- PILLS Academy — a specialized program introducing students to pharmacy, health sciences, and laboratory skills.
- NC HE²ALS — a health‑education initiative offering immersive experiences in healthcare careers.
- Educational Talent Search Camps — free, hands‑on camps for grades 6–12, varying by topic and schedule.
College leaders say the Interest Night is ideal for students considering careers in healthcare, skilled trades, advanced manufacturing, public safety, engineering, business, or university transfer pathways. Families will learn how SCC’s summer programs help students strengthen academic foundations, gain practical experience, and explore new interests in a supportive environment.
SCC also offers summer opportunities for younger students—including College4Kids (grades 2–7) and Discovery Camps (grades 7–8)—but the March 31 session will focus specifically on high school programming.
