WHITEVILLE, NC — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit, working alongside the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s Criminal Apprehension Team, arrested Jablonski Moore on Wednesday following a joint operation just outside Whiteville.
Deputies executed a search warrant at Moore’s residence on March 25, taking him into custody without incident.
The arrest follows an investigation launched on March 23, when deputies responded to Columbus Regional Healthcare System regarding a reported sexual assault that occurred the previous day. According to the Sheriff’s Office, detectives conducted interviews, collected evidence, and worked closely with medical professionals — including a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) — to document the victim’s account and injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Moore is charged with:
- First Degree Kidnapping
- Sexual Servitude of an Adult Victim
- Second Degree Forcible Rape
- Assault on a Female
Moore was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center under no bond.
Sheriff Bill Rogers said the case represents some of the most serious work handled by investigators.
“Cases like this are among the most serious and disturbing that our investigators handle,” Rogers said. “I am proud of the swift and professional work by our Special Victims Unit and our partners at the SBI in bringing this individual into custody. We remain committed to seeking justice for victims and ensuring those responsible for violent crimes are held accountable.”
The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that everyone is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law, and that the information released is not intended to express an opinion regarding guilt.
