Russell Dale Rockwell, age 74, of Whiteville, passed away at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Cemtery on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Dale was born on January 1, 1952, in Whiteville to the late William Russell Rockwell and Susie Hammonds Soles Rockwell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his companion of 30 years; Lucille Creech, a sister; Miriam Soles McPherson and brothers; David Franklin Rockwell and Furney Soles.
Dale served his country honorably in the United States Army. 
After leaving the service, he worked as a mechanic for several years. He then worked as a surveyor with Duncan Land Surveyor in Whiteville.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister; Deborah Rockwell of Whiteville, brothers; William Rockwell of Whiteville, Danny Rockwell (Judy) of Orrum and Ronnie Rockwell (Ann) of Evergreen, sister-in-law; Betty Soles of Autryville, NC, several nephews and one niece, and several great nephews and nieces.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 3:00 pm in Flynn Cemetery with Rev. Danny Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 2:45 pm at McKenzie Mortuary prior to the graveside service.
