Born on September 17, 1932 in Harnett County, Mary was known for her boundless warmth, quiet strength, and a generosity of spirit that touched everyone who knew her. She lived a life rooted in love, strength and devotion to those around her. She was a guiding light to her children, a source of warmth, wisdom and comfort to her grandchildren. Her home was always a place where family gathered, laughter was shared and memories were made.
As a mother she was nurturing, resilient and endlessly supportive whom loved to cook and read. Being a grandmother, she found her greatest joy and took pride in watching her grandchildren grow. Her love extended beyond her immediate family, touching neighbors and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She married Clemouth Edward Pollard, “the love of my life” October 4th, 1959. Together they raised two children: Pamela Barkan and Clemouth Edward Pollard, Jr. Mary was the heart of our family, even as a child. The love she gave will continue to guide us all through our lives.
Mary worked as a Branch Manager at Lexington State Bank where she retired after being in the industry over 25 years. She was admired for her dedication and excellent customer service skills. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and loved.
She is survived by her children Pamela Barkan (Alan), Clemouth Edward Pollard, Jr (Krista) her grandchildren Tovi, Avery, Evann, Evie, great grandchildren Jack Barkan, Damien Pollard, brothers; Louis Conrad Wilkerson (Jean), William “Ray” Wilkerson (Jan), Cecil Clayton Wilkerson She was preceded in death by husband Clemouth Edward Pollard, brother Alton Sherrill Wilkerson, sister Nannie Lou Johnson, grandson Asher Barkan .
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her kindness, strength and her steady presence whose love shaped us all. “Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved”
