Knights of Columbus continue long-running community tradition with affordable pasta, subs, and family-friendly dining

LITTLE RIVER, SC — A long-standing community favorite is back on the calendar as Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church invites residents to its monthly Italian Dinner, held the first Tuesday of each month from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 1048 Sea Mountain Highway in Little River.

The event, organized by the church’s Knights of Columbus council, features two main dinner options along with subs and a children’s menu.

Guests can enjoy the group’s popular pasta dinner, which begins with a fresh salad and includes rigatoni topped with homemade marinara sauce, paired with either two meatballs or sausage sautéed with onions and peppers. Each plate comes with fresh-baked garlic bread for $10.00

For those craving something heartier, Luigi’s Homemade Lasagna Dinner offers a large portion of homemade lasagna, available with meat or cheese served with salad and garlic bread for $15.00

The menu also includes $7.00 subs, with choices such as a meatball parmesan sub or a sweet or hot sausage sub with peppers and onions. A children’s menu is available, making the dinner a family-friendly option for locals and visitors.

The monthly meal is more than a fundraiser; it’s part of a decades-long tradition rooted in the mission of the Knights of Columbus, a global Catholic fraternal service organization founded in 1882 in New Haven, Connecticut.

The group was established to support families, strengthen community ties, and provide charitable outreach.

Local councils, including the one at Our Lady Star of the Sea, have carried that mission forward through food drives, community meals, scholarship programs, and support for families in need.

Our Lady Star of the Sea’s council has hosted pasta dinners and similar gatherings for years, using the events to bring neighbors together while raising funds for parish ministries and local charitable efforts. The dinners have become a familiar fixture for many in the Little River and North Strand communities, offering an affordable night out and a chance to support local service work.

The church encourages residents to stop by, enjoy a homemade meal, and connect with the volunteers who keep the tradition alive each month.
