LELAND, NC — Kathryne Haskett, 47, was arrested on a felony charge of abusing a disabled or elderly person causing injury. The charge indicates investigators believe the victim was unable to protect themselves due to age and/or disability.
Elder abuse cases have risen across North Carolina as the state’s population ages, and prosecutors often pursue these cases aggressively.
