HCPD’s longtime K9 partner begins a well‑earned retirement at home with Sgt. Brandon Rabon.

Horry County, SC — The Horry County Police Department (HCPD) is marking a sentimental milestone this week as K9 Ori officially retires after 8 and a half years of service to the citizens of Horry County.

Known for his sharp nose, steady discipline, and unwavering loyalty, Ori assisted in tracking suspects, locating illegal drugs, and strengthening countless investigations. Many of his contributions will never be publicly detailed, but the department says his work made a lasting impact on community safety.

Central to Ori’s success was his partnership with Sgt. Brandon Rabon. Their bond was built through years of training, long days on patrol, and shared victories – a connection that continues beyond Ori’s final shift.

Ori now transitions from patrol duty to a quieter life at home, trading workdays for naps, tennis balls, and time with Sgt. Rabon’s family. His retirement may include less rest than expected, though his toddler “human brother” is eager for playtime.
