OAK ISLAND, NC — The Town of Oak Island is advising residents and visitors of expected traffic impacts on Wednesday, August 12, as a large home will be transported across several streets between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The structure, measuring approximately 75 feet long and 35′ wide, will be moved from 6901 West Beach Drive to 123 SW 3rd Street.
OKI Town officials say the move is anticipated to take about four hours, during which drivers may experience delays along West Beach Drive, South Middleton Avenue, West Oak Island Drive, and SW 3rd Street. The intersection of Oak Island Drive and Middleton Avenue may also see temporary disruptions as the home passes through the area.
Escort vehicles will accompany the transport, and law enforcement will direct traffic around the move using nearby secondary streets, including West Dolphin Drive, White Lane SW, and West Yacht Drive. Motorists traveling through the affected areas are urged to remain patient, follow Police Officers instructions, and avoid speeding on residential detour routes.
