Myrtle Beach Police identify person of interest, urge public to submit tips in ongoing case

MYRTLE BEACH, SC — Myrtle Beach police are continuing an open homicide investigation following the July 21 death of a 33-year-old woman inside her Greens Boulevard residence.
Authorities responded to the home shortly after 11:00 a.m. to conduct a welfare check. Inside, officers discovered Jeneil Leon, originally from Jamaica, dead from a gunshot wound. The Horry County Coroner’s Office subsequently confirmed the manner of death as a homicide.
Investigators stated that the case required careful forensic analysis, autopsy reviews, and witness interviews before it could be officially classified as a homicide. According to police, complex death investigations often evolve rapidly as new evidence emerges, necessitating a thorough review to preserve the integrity of the process.
Detectives have since identified a person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting, though authorities have not yet publicly released that individual’s name. Investigators emphasized that while the case remains active, there has been no indication of an ongoing threat to the general public.
The Myrtle Beach Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding Leon’s death, or anyone who noticed suspicious activity near her Greens Boulevard home, to contact local authorities or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
