Holden Beach Police Department Receives NCLM Soft Body Armor Grant Approval

Holden Beach PD

Holden Beach, NC — The Holden Beach Police Department has received approval for a Soft Body Armor Grant through the North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM) Workers’ Compensation Program, securing reimbursement support for new officer safety equipment.

The grant allows the department to recover a flat‑rate portion of the cost for approved soft body armor, helping ensure officers have compliant, up‑to‑date protective gear while reducing the financial burden on the town.

Chief Steven Barger said the funding directly strengthens the department’s ability to protect its personnel. “Body armor is critical, lifesaving equipment for our officers. This grant helps ensure we can continue to provide that protection while responsibly managing department resources,” he said.

The Holden Beach Police Department emphasized that officer safety remains a core priority as the agency continues serving the community with professionalism, transparency, and dedication.
