Early Morning Domestic Call Results in Trespassing and Driving Charges

WHITEVILLE, NC — An early morning domestic response by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a Chadbourn man on multiple charges.

Deputies responded to a domestic call on New Britton Highway East at approximately 2:36 a.m. on July 27. Investigative findings at the scene led to the arrest of Norris Lee Scott Jr., 45, of Benton Road in Chadbourn.

Scott was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center at 4:24 a.m. and charged with domestic criminal trespass and driving while license revoked due to an impaired revocation. North Carolina law mandates that individuals charged with domestic offenses be held without bond for up to 48 hours to allow a judge to set conditions of release. Scott remains in custody under a no-bond hold.

All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
