Diana Louise Clark

Diana Louise Clark, a spirited traveler and beloved cafeteria confidante, set off on her greatest adventure yet on January 28, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on December 8, 1951, in Wilmington, Diana spent her life making her hometown a little brighter and a lot more fun.

Though her travels have now taken her to the ultimate destination, Diana left a legacy of love, laughter, and perhaps a few overdue library books. Her journey began in the kitchens of the NC Public School System, where she retired after dedicating many years to nourishing the minds and bellies of countless students. Known for recalling each child’s favorite snack and their most embarrassing lunchroom moments, Diana truly was the heart of the cafeteria.

A self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy,’ Diana’s love for reading and travel was only overshadowed by her love for her family and community. She was an enthusiastic member of Crosswinds Church, where she faithfully attended, likely hoping to secure a front-row seat to Heaven’s next big adventure.

Preceded in death by her parents, Howard Perry Woodbury and Mary Florence King Woodbury and brother Howard Perry Woodbury, Jr.

Diana leaves behind a family that has inherited her zest for life and questionable sense of humor. Her husband of 55 years and high school sweetheart, Robert Paul Clark, will fondly remember their travels together and the time she “accidentally” lost him in the Lowes Home Improvement. Her daughters, Deanna C. Lane and husband James, and Kristel Clark, will carry on her legacy of love, laughter, and probably a bit of eyerolling. Her brother David Bruce Woodbury and wife Patti will miss her keen wit and sharp comebacks. Her special fur baby Emmielue.

Diana also leaves behind her cherished grandsons—Robert Clark Lane; Robbie Lane and wife Audrey; and Jamie Lane—who will ensure her stories live on, embellishments and all.

A celebration of Diana’s lively life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Loman officiating. The family invites friends to join them afterward to share stories and laughter, just as Diana would have wanted.

So, here’s to Diana, who lived her life like she packed her suitcase: full to the brim and with room for adventure. May her next journey be filled with endless pages to read, paths to travel, and perhaps a well-stocked cafeteria.
