Frank Gerhardt Walter, formerly of Monroe, New York, passed away early in the morning on January 27th at the age of 83.
Frank was born and raised in upstate New York, where he grew up in Livingston Manor on what his family called “the farm.” He enjoyed the outdoors – hunting, fishing, riding recreational vehicles, and experiencing the simple freedoms of country life with his family until the property was sold in 2000.
He later moved to Monroe around the time of the birth of his first son, Adam, who sadly passed away before him. Frank built a long career in construction, working on a wide range of projects including high-end custom homes, and took great pride in his craft. In his later years, he relocated to North Carolina to be closer to his son.
Frank is survived by his son, Jason, and his three grandchildren, Gavin, Gage, and Grier.
After several months of declining health, Frank passed under the care of hospice. He will be cremated, and no formal service will be held.
Those wishing to honor Frank’s memory may make a donation to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or plant a tree in his honor — a fitting tribute for someone who loved nature.
