Delco Driver Charged with DWI on Fertilizer Road

RIEGELWOOD, NC — A vehicle stop in Riegelwood resulted in impaired driving charges late Wednesday evening.

At approximately 8:57 p.m. on Aug. 12, Deputy Timothy B. Stewart stopped a Ford F-150 near 1 Fertilizer Road. Following the traffic stop, 39-year-old Pablo Luis Benavides of 25504 Andrew Jackson Highway, Delco, was placed under arrest.

Benavides was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center at 11:39 p.m. and charged with Driving While Impaired (DWI) and First Offense Open Container After Consuming Alcohol. He received a $3,500 secured bond while awaiting trial.

All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
