Smoke and road closures expected as crews run full‑scale fire ground exercises.

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC — Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Rescue will be conducting a training burn today in the 200 block of North Shore Drive. Residents in the area should expect visible smoke and a significant fire department presence throughout the exercise.
The controlled burn provides newer personnel with hands‑on experience in real‑world fire ground operations, including line management, equipment use, and coordinated tactical movement. These scenarios allow crews, both new and experienced to work through procedures that are not always possible during standard training sessions.
Drivers and residents are asked to give crews ample room to operate. A large number of apparatus and personnel will be staged in the area, and North Shore Drive will be closed between Turner Road and approximately the 235 block during the exercise.
