BOLIVIA, NC – The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office recently marked a significant milestone within the walls of the local detention facility, celebrating the latest graduate of the Addiction Response and Rediscovering One’s Worth (ARROW) program.
The graduate was honored in a ceremony attended by facility staff and program leaders, recognizing a steadfast commitment to personal growth and recovery. The ARROW initiative is designed as a comprehensive intervention for individuals facing the intersection of substance use disorders and criminal justice involvement.
The ARROW program provides participants with a structured environment focused on long-term success through several key pillars:
-
Clinical Treatment: Evidence-based individual and group therapeutic sessions.
-
Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT): A cognitive-behavioral treatment strategy facilitated by partners from Coastal Horizons.
-
Re-entry Planning: Strategic coordination to ensure participants are connected to housing, healthcare, and support networks upon their release.
Sheriff’s Office officials highlighted the dedication of Program Coordinator Emma Long, LCSWA, LCAS, and clinician Skylar Sessoms for their roles in guiding participants through the rigorous curriculum.
By addressing the root causes of recidivism, specifically mental health and addiction, the ARROW program aims to transform lives while enhancing public safety in Brunswick County. Each graduation serves as a testament to the viability of rehabilitation programs within the detention system, offering a “different path forward” for those committed to change.
