Brunswick County Healthcare Summer Camp explores emergency medical transport, aviation careers, and Mobile Care operations.

Bolivia, NC — AirLink/VitaLink Mobile Care welcomed students from the Brunswick County Healthcare Summer Camp to Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center this week, offering a firsthand look at emergency medical transport and critical‑care response.

AirLink/VitaLink is Novant Health’s regional critical‑care transport program, providing both air and ground medical transport across southeastern North Carolina. The program operates advanced‑life‑support ambulances and medical helicopters staffed by specially trained flight nurses, paramedics, and pilots who respond to emergencies, support hospitals, and transport patients requiring rapid or specialized care.

During the visit, students toured ambulances, met with the non‑emergency transport team, and learned how medical crews support patient care throughout the region. They also spent time with the AirLink flight crew, discussing the types of calls they respond to, and the teamwork required between aviation and medical staff during critical‑care transports.

The camp group asked questions about careers in healthcare, emergency services, and aviation, gaining insight into the skills and training needed for these roles. Staff members said they enjoyed sharing their experiences and encouraging students who may one day join the field.

Organizers say the goal of the visit was to inspire the next generation of caregivers by showing them the real‑world impact of mobile health teams and the essential role they play in community safety and patient care.
