Local ADN and LPN students begin simulations, pharmacology, and pediatric care inside the Dan and Linda Lynes Health Sciences Center.
Bolivia, NC — Brunswick Community College’s Dan and Linda Lynes Health Sciences Center was full of activity Monday as nursing students from across Brunswick County and surrounding communities arrived for the first day of BCC’s summer session.
Returning associate degree Nursing (ADN) students began their OB/Pediatric Boot Camp, an intensive eight‑week experience focused on maternal, newborn, and pediatric care. Students moved through simulation labs and skill stations designed to mirror the types of patients they’ll encounter in clinics and hospitals throughout the region.
New ADN and Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) students also took their first steps into the profession with the start of their Pharmacology course. For returning LPN students, the day marked the beginning of their final semester — a milestone that brings them closer to serving in local healthcare settings.
Many of the students come from communities such as Leland, Shallotte, Bolivia, Supply, and the beach towns, and several shared that they chose BCC because they want to stay and work in the region. Their training reflects that commitment, with scenarios built around real‑world needs in Brunswick County’s growing healthcare system.
From newborn assessments to pediatric care practice, the day highlighted the teamwork, focus, and dedication that continue to define BCC’s nursing programs. With new students beginning their studies and others nearing graduation, the college’s role in preparing the next generation of local healthcare professionals remains strong.
