Whiteville Resident Arrested for Misuse of Emergency 911 System in Chadbourn

CHADBOURN, NC — A Whiteville woman faces criminal charges following a Thursday night incident in Chadbourn involving the improper use of emergency communications.

Deputies responded to a call along the 300 block of Huffman Street in Chadbourn at approximately 9:34 p.m. on July 23. Following an investigation at the scene into repeated or unauthorized emergency calls, officers arrested 36-year-old Portia Shenellie Hardie of West College Street, Whiteville.

Hardie was charged with misdemeanor misuse of the 911 emergency system. She was transported to the Columbus County Detention Center, where a magistrate set her bond at $1,500 secured.

Any individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
