Columbus County – The regional crackdown on impaired and dangerous driving continued Tuesday as authorities pulled over a Wilmington man for erratic behavior on local roads. Arenas R. Francisco, 54, was arrested on July 28 after law enforcement observed multiple traffic violations.
Francisco was charged with driving while impaired, speeding, reckless driving to endanger, and possessing an open container after consuming alcohol. He was processed at the Columbus County Detention Center and issued a $5,000 secured bond. Traffic safety task forces across Brunswick and Columbus counties regularly step up enforcement during the summer months to keep impaired drivers off busy coastal and rural highways.
Any individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
