A Whiteville woman was killed Friday evening in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 95 in Clarendon County, South Carolina, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Clarendon County Coroner’s Office.
Carman Stallings, 57, of Whiteville, was riding a 2020 Indian motorcycle southbound on I‑95 when a 2023 Mazda SUV, also traveling south, collided with her near mile marker 123 around 6:50 p.m. on February 27. Stallings was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred near Alcolu, a small community roughly 90 miles south of Whiteville. An autopsy is scheduled at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
Stallings was well known in the Whiteville community, and news of her death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from friends, neighbors, and family members. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
